Microneedling for Anti-Aging and Skin Texture Improvement

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that uses a MicroPen which contains fine needles. The needles are used to create hundreds of superficial micro-channels every few seconds. This stimulates the skin’s natural ability to heal itself. The new collagen and elastin produce softer, firmer skin, resulting in a younger looking skin with a healthy glow. Microneedling can also improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are stem growth factors?

Stem Growth Factors are special types of mesenchymal stem cells that are cultured in the laboratory and utilized to create more of the beneficial molecules.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelets in the blood that are crucial to wound healing. PRP releases growth factors into the skin to expedite the body’s own repair process and stimulate new collagen and elastin.

Blood is drawn from the arm in the same way as with any blood test. Then, using a centrifuge, the platelet rich plasma is activated to release at least 8 essential growth factors. PRP is safe and natural because the procedure concentrates the regenerating cells from your own body directly back into the area where they are needed. There is absolutely no chance of getting a blood infection from another human being. PRP involves using your own cells and it will not be rejected by your immune system.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. On average, for the next 2 to 4 days, your skin will red and there may be some minor flaking. Afterwards, patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Results continue to improve over the next 6 months, as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require a single treatment once a year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6 to 8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo aging, stretch marks or acne scars, it is recommended to receive 6 to 8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
